Gayralda J Huston

Gayralda Jane Huston, 79, of Fort Gratiot, passed peacefully Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

She was born January 15, 1942 in Port Huron to the late John and Dorothy Varty. She married Richard “Larry” Huston on August 17, 1963 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Gayralda attended St. Clair County Community College and Eastern Michigan University. She was a teacher for Port Huron Area School District for 37 years. She was a member of AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma and Women’s Life Chapter 1. She was also an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of the League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed traveling and scrapbooking. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry; daughters, Christine (Steve) Deaton and Cynthia (Randy) Trice; four grandchildren, Josh (Taisha) Horton, Anthony Horton, Chandra Trice (Tyler Anglebrandt) and Jaden Trice; six great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Sharon) Varty, Michael (Sandy) Varty, Gerald (Joyce) Varty and William Varty; brother-in-law, Ron (Mary) Huston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, RJ Trice.

Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A League of Catholic Women Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visiting from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
