Martin D Jackson

Martin Duane Jackson, 87, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was born March 30, 1934 in Applegate to the late Leonard and Loretta Jackson. He married Betty Lou Gilmore on February 5, 1955 in Port Huron. They were married 65 years before Betty passed on August 17, 2020.

Martin was a 1953 graduate of Sandusky High School. He then learned the trade of machining, that supported his love of family and horses. He retired in 1978 after learning he had M.S. He then went into the grocery business. Martin and Betty owned Betty’s Party Store and Lakeport Market.

He is survived by his children, Diane (James) Davidson, Ray (Lynn) Jackson and Brian (Sandra) Jackson; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Delbert (Noreen) Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline and Bonnie.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Joseph Baunoch will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeport Cemetery, Burtchville Township. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
