Mark A. Smith

Mark Avery Smith, 70, of Port Huron, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021.

He was born August 30, 1951 in Jackson, Michigan. He married Barbara J. Harrison on August 20, 1977 in St. Clair.

Mark was a sailor on the Great Lakes ships for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He loved traveling and made many long-lasting friendships on and off the ships. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed black powder shooting, loved the outdoors, traveling and tinkering around and making things. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family who were very important to him.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara; mother, Bernice Hafner; sisters, Teri (Gary) Coaster and Mary Clark; brother, Norman (Amy) Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins; step-brother, David Smith; “adopted daughter”, Hannah McDonald; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sue) Harrison, Don (Lorraine) Harrison and Ron (Carol) Harrison; and sisters-in-law, Judy McDonald and Joann (John) Miller.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on December 17, 2021 in Cross Current Church with visitation starting at 10:00 am.
