Karen L Bowers

Carsonville--Karen L. Bowers, 64, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 20, 2011.
She was currently a dance instructor at The Dance Company Conservatory and was a substitute teacher for the S.C.C. and surrounding school districts. She also trained students in private voice lessons.
Karen grew up in New York City. She studied dance, music, photography and was a lead choreographer and soloist. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fordham University, shared ownership at a Spanish Dance Company in New York and pioneered a creative movement class for adults and children.
She attended several local church groups and a bible study group. She carried nature, animals and art close to her heart. She was also delighted to be training a young dancer to be a professional ballerina.
Karen is survived by her mother Helen Bowers; sister Elaine Nelson; stepmother Patricia Lee Smith; stepsister Stephanie Patterson and many friends, children and animals she considered her family.
A memorial service will be held 4pm Saturday, January 7, 2012 at The Dance Company Conservatory at 1545 Michigan Road. Pastor Annette Crerar will officiate. Arrangements by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Sanilac County Humane Society.
