Lawrence Heinz
Lawrence “Larry” Douglas Heinz died on Thursday, January 6, 2022 after a long battle with prostate cancer and a recent stroke. He was 88 years old.
Larry loved gardening and watching the Red Wings on TV. After the games he and his brother Rick would talk on the phone and analyze the games. He enjoyed feeding the birds and was an avid bird watcher, recording in a pocket field guide all the birds he and Sharon encountered in their many years in their Smiths Creek home. Larry was always coaxing birds to get them to feed from his hand or land on his arm, finger or hat. In his younger days, Larry used to like to go deer hunting, not always for the hunting, but just to get away from it all for a short time.
Larry was a man of few words--usually you got a look or a gesture, sometimes a grunt! Dad taught us to be respectful of others and how to appreciate the value of a dollar.
Lawrence is survived by his wife. Sharon; daughters, Wendy (Don) DeMeulenaere and Patricia (Robert) Kempinski; sons, Richard, Terry (Cindy), Paul (Sonia), Larry (Diane), and Guy (Jerri). Larry is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, Richard (Pam) Heinz; nephew, David (Catherine) Pulliam; and many other nieces, nephews and several long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Jeanne Heinz on August 31, 2021.
Larry: husband, father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and friend will be missed by many. Rest in peace old man.
There will be no service at this time per Dad's request.
