Esther Vasquez

July 4th, 1939 to January 18th, 2022

Esther Vasquez, 82, of Fort Gratiot entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

She was born July 4, 1939 in Edinburg, Texas to the late Apolonio and Josefa Garcia. She married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Vasquez on October 8, 1960.

Esther was a retired caseworker from the Department of Human Services. She enjoyed volunteering, walking to raise money and meeting new people. She was a volunteer board member and president of Lake Huron Medical Center. She also volunteered for the Little Black Dress event, and the Back Packing for schools. She enjoyed being the “Queen Mum” to 25 to 30 Red Hat ladies.

In her free time she loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, working out, snowshoeing and crocheting. Most of all she enjoyed praising and thanking the Lord for all He had provided for her: she always felt very blessed. She was a member of Cornerstone Church.

Esther was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Tony; son, Michael (Erin) Vasquez; daughter, Joleen Tramski; grandchildren, Tom (Brooke) and Krissy Tramski and Phil and Jessie Vasquez; and siblings, Paul Garcia, Tito (Kris) Garcia, Arturo (Carol) Garcia, Odelia Rodriguez, Martha Link, Teresa (Larry) Reiter. She was preceded in death by her favorite son-in-law, David Tramski, her sister, Josephine Garcia and her brother, Samuel Garcia.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 in Cornerstone Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Peter Foxwell will officiate.
