Herbert Sanford

Herbert John Sanford, 68, of Clyde Township, died Sunday, February 13, 2022.

He was born November 28, 1953 to the late Alonzo and Marjean Sanford. He married Addie M. Karhu on December 27, 1976 in Ishpeming.

Herbert served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Rudyard High School in the U.P. He was employed as a Boilermaker with Local 169 for many years before his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed gardening, nature and loved everything outdoors. Family was extremely important to him and they could count on him without question. He also enjoyed everything high tech and liked his gadgets.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Addie; four children, Jean Huntley, David (Holly) Sanford, Alyssa Sanford and Alonzo Sanford; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sister, Sherry Markey. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Sanford.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Joe Baunoch will officiate.

Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
