Marvel VanNorman

Marvel Irene VanNorman, 89, of Port Huron, died Monday, May 2, 2022.

She was born December 27, 1932 in Port Huron to the late Steven and Thelma Garska.

She married Charles A. “Van” VanNorman on March 20, 1966 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2018 after 52 years of marriage.

Marvel was a custodian at St. Clair County Community College for many years prior to her retirement. In April 1987, she opened Wadhams Country Kitchen with her husband and daughter, Pamela. She enjoyed dancing, wintering in Dunedin, Florida and spending time with her family.

Marvel is survived by four children, Barbara Frazer, Sharon (John) Charboneau, Pamela Frazer and Randy (Becky) VanNorman; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Eva (John) Harding and Wanda Pretzer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Steven Frazer; three grandchildren, Philip Frazer, Cody McConnell and Pamela McConnell; and five sisters and an infant brother.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be in the Woodland Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron Township.
