Obituary

Dr. Richard Charles Lohr passed away at home on May 12, 2022 after a short illness at the age of 60.

He was born February 26, 1962 in Port Huron, Michigan, to Dr. Robert and Eileen Lohr. He attended elementary school at St. Joseph Catholic School and high school at Port Huron High School. He graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis Missouri, as a doctor of Chiropractic.

Family and friends loved him for his great sense of humor and his warm generous spirit. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. His favorite thing to do was to get together with family. He had great faith in God. He started every day with prayer and had a particular devotion to the holy rosary.

Dr. Lohr was a brilliant man and a pioneer in his field. He was the first physician in the state of Illinois to become certified in Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression. In 2015, Dr. Lohr was appointed to the International Medical Advisory Board on Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression. The board is composed of 20 positions and includes neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, medical radiologist, Chiropractic physicians and medical physicians.

In 2017, Dr. Lohr was appointed an associate professor to the post graduate faculty of Parker University in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Lohr was elected President of the International Disc Education Association as President for the 2021-2022 year.

Dr. Lohr was on the post graduate teaching faculty of three universities. Doctors came from all over the world to train in his exceptional office. He inspired other doctors with his passion for his profession and his charismatic speaking abilities.

Dr. Lohr was admired and loved by so many people and left behind a legacy of trained physicians, healed patients and loved friends.

He is survived by his three cherished children, Gabrielle, Alexandria and Christian; his mother, Eileen Lohr of Port Huron; six loving siblings, Lela (Mitchell) Wyzgowski of Port Huron, Jeannine Lohr of Port Huron, Connie (Jeff) Michaels of Dallas, Texas, Robert (Deborah) Lohr II of Traverse City, Michigan, Dr. Douglas Lohr of Toledo, Ohio and Suellen Lohr of Port Huron, Michigan; 15 beloved nieces and nephews; plus many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, also a doctor of Chiropractic who inspired his love of Chiropractic. This became a passion of Dr. Lohr’s - healing people and giving them hope.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
