Robert J Gordon

Robert Joseph Gordon, 89, of Clyde Township, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

He was born April 7, 1933 in Hazel Park to the late Virgil and Leona Gordon. He married Sally A. Cyrek on April 18, 1953 in Detroit.

Robert graduated in 1951 from Pershing High School in Detroit and attended Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Robert enjoyed spending time with family, doing yard work and watching sports, especially high school football. He was known to always have a corny joke to share and was a consummate foodie.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sally; daughters, Cheryl Ollila (Terry Lee), Lynn (Jim) LaMothe and Tracy (Billy) Slobin; grandchildren, Angie (Josh) Perritt, Stacy (Eric) Frantz, Robert (Cristie) Sarah, Megan (Patrick II) DeStefanis, Joshua Glombowski, Stephen (Jackie) Slobin and Jake Slobin; and great grandchildren, Emily and Cody Melms, Alec and Isabella Frantz, Alaina and Leona Sarah, Natalie and Patrick III DeStefanis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gayle Glombowski; and brother, Thomas Gordon.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2022 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Monday, October, 17, 2022 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
