Ronald Siemen
Ronald J. Siemen, 86, of St. Clair, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
He was born on June 26, 1936 to the late Douglas O’Neil & Lucille Siemen. He married Elinor Engelgau on April 23, 1960. She passed away on May 11, 2014.
Ron served in the Army from 1957 through 1959. He graduated from Michigan State University and Wayne State University, finishing with a Master’s degree in Education. After graduating college, he got a Barber Certificate.
Ron and Elinor moved to St. Clair in 1989. Together they owned and operated Siemen’s Market (formerly Tyler’s Market) for 17 years while Ron primarily worked as a full-time teacher. He taught in the Port Huron School District for 27 years, as well as a substitute in East China for 9 years. During retirement, he worked at Pine Shores Golf Club in St. Clair for 5 years.
Together they enjoyed traveling, bowling, boating and snowmobiling with family and a group of close friends.
Ron was a member of the American Legion Post 382, the Fraternal Order of Moose, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was the past Commodore of the Otsi Keta Yacht Club, as well as a member of the St. Clair Harbor Commission and St. Clair Board of Review.
He is survived by daughters; Sarah (Joe) Bennett and Rachael (Jim) Dickinson; granddaughters, Alaina (Austin Corbin) and Gina Bennett; and his dog, Cricket. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor.
Visitation will be 1 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Military Honors will follow at 5 p.m. under the auspices of the United States Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
