Kathy Balmer

Kathy Balmer, 76, of Port Huron, passed away from this life on Monday, January 2, 2023.

She was born December 23, 1946 in Port Huron to the late Art Wilkins and Edna Wilkins-Bowman. She married her high school sweetheart, Stephen H Balmer on July 2, 1966.

Kathy attended and graduated from Port Huron High School. She and Steve were involved with Boy Scout Troop #168, Mackinac Island Service Troop and the Port Huron Northern High School Band Boosters. She worked as a sales associate and retired from Ron Lendzions in downtown Port Huron. After retirement, Kathy and Steve spent their summers camping with family and winters in Florida with friends.

She will always be remembered for her impeccable cooking and baking. She was the biggest bookworm and could sew just about anything. She was full of love, great recipes and beautiful smiles.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Steve; two children, Robert (Jennifer) Balmer and Jennifer Jacobsen (Joe Behr); son, Gary (Kathy) Herbert; grandchildren, Joslyn Maurer, Rebecca Balmer, Mackenzie Jacobsen (Hailee), Madelyn Balmer and Alyson Chisholm; and brothers, John (Mechelle) Wilkins and Phillip (Linda) Wilkins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Richard Balmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Richard Hotchkin will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ Clyde Setter Educational Fund.
