Scott T Plant

June 5th, 1962 to January 15th, 2023

Scott Thomas Plant, 60, of Kimball Township, cherished husband, father, Grampy, baby brother and friend, died Sunday, January 15, 2023. We are tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his family and friends.

He was a graduate of Port Huron High School, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3702, Eagle Rider, Elks Club member and Moose Camper. Scott was a cause crusader, jokester, sports fan, golfer, softball player, music buff and a hard worker. He was a lover of animals, especially his pups over the years - Homer, Bean, Lou, Gus, Pickles and Bert.

Scott was always tinkering, improving and fixing things at home or whenever a friend needed a helping hand. The chef at every family and campground gathering, Scott showed his love through food and cooking for his family and friends.

Co-raiser of four kind, fun, and funny human beings - a testament to the man he was. They’re grown now, his babies. Not grown enough to lose their dad, but enough that they were able to give him a gift he could carry with him, too: a million magical glimpses of the people they will become.

Outstanding selector of a lifetime companion, he and Sheri devoted almost 40 years of their life to one another. Riding motorcycles, golf carting, and camping, surrounded by loving friends that turned into family.

What matters most is that he was loved. And that he loved us. That he woke up every morning in a home filled with dogs and laughter and unconditional love.

Where there is always another project to be done. Where the Mountain Dew flowed freely, and the bed was their nest - the two of them and the dogs, too.

None of this captures his humor. How he could snap wit back like a rubber band, and tease, prank, and insult you in ways that only made you adore him more. The way he laughed, without making a sound. His voice - a soft low part of him that seemed forever tethered somewhere deep inside his chest.

We don’t know why he was taken so suddenly. The cancer. Something hidden and unforeseen. This is the work of doctors and coroners. Not ours.

Our work is only to remember. To keep remembering, laughing, and growing in all the ways Scott can’t but would want us to, for him. And for us.

Beloved husband of Sheri Plant (Rich); loving father of Tara (Mark) Kennedy, Scott Thomas Jr., Austin and Callie Plant; fun-loving Grampy to Miles and Blake Kennedy; dear baby brother of Debra (Bill) Gauss, Cathy Plant-Roberts, Bob (Kathy) Plant, David Plant, Doug Plant and John (Patty) Plant; a cheeky cousin to Marilyn Epps (Kip) and Lori Mehler; the best uncle to many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law to Daniel (Susan) Rich and Terry (Phil) Rich; and a dear, lifelong friend to countless people.

Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Mame Booth; father, William Plant; his mother-in-law, June Rich, or so he affectionately referred to her as, June Bug; sister-in-law, Cindy Tenza; and best man and friend, Timmy Teets.

He is sincerely missed.

A time of sharing will be held from 12-4 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 with a luncheon at 1:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3702.
