Winona T "Tegan" Day

February 3rd, 1979 to June 8th, 2023

On Thursday, June 8, 2023, Winona “Tegan” Day, 44, of Almont, passed away at McLaren Hospital in Lapeer.

On June 9, 2023, Tegan saved three lives through Gift of Life at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Tegan was born on February 3, 1979 in Rochester Hills to Gloria and William M. Day. Tegan obtained two master’s degrees in finance and accounting and held several accounting positions through the years. Her love of cats was contagious and humorous. Her cat Baleigh was as spoiled as a cat could be and lived to be 23 years old. She was a kind and caring soul, she would not kill a bug, a spider, or even a mouse - she would capture them and set them free outside. Tegan’s love of music provided her with a great deal of comfort.

Tegan is the daughter of Gloria Day; sister of William L. “Billy” Day and Wendy Day-Kramer; niece of Glynis Waycaster and Dana Waycaster, Binnie (Oleta) Waycaster, Pat Bildzok, Dee Start; cousin of Bradley Withey (Dana Harrington), Landyn Withey, Lucas Harrington, Breanna Greenland, Shelby Greenland, Ashlen (Jayme) McMaster, Branson, Brandon & Pyper Waycaster, Donna Bildzok and numerous other cousins; aunt of Von Kramer; granddaughter of Inez Waycaster; great-niece of Zandra Taylor and Janice Martin; and close friends of Shannon Fitzgerald-Pusta, Lindsay Harsen, and Ray Lester. Tegan was preceded in death by her father, William M. Day; grandparents, Binnie B. Waycaster, Sr. and Delmer and Anna Day; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Tegan was very close to her cousin Bradley Withey. In remembrance of Tegan, the family is accepting donations for Bradley Withey to support his journey starting this month to Mayo Clinic for major surgery.

Viewing for family and friends will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
