Charles F "Charlie" Morrison

June 12th, 1945 to August 8th, 2023

Charles Fredrick "Charlie" Morrison, 78, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023 after a brief illness surrounded by his family.

He was born June 12, 1945 in Port Huron to the late Carl E. and Frances V. Morrison. He married Cynthia E. McDonald on July 10, 1982 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2022.

Charles graduated from Port Huron High School in 1963. He worked for Grand Trunk Western Railroad for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Charles enjoyed camping, fishing, the outdoors, working on small engines, and tinkering with things. He liked collecting old vinyl records and enjoyed model trains. He spent much of his free time helping his neighbors, particularly with their yard work. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his step-daughters, Tammy (Lawrence) DeHate and Angie (Marty) Eagen; grandchildren, Lawrence (Kayla) DeHate, Trevor DeHate, Carra Eagen, Natalie Eagen and Noah Walsh; great-granddaughter, Peyton DeHate; sister-in-law, Joan Morrison; nephew, Tim Morrison; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Morrison.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
