Captain William E. "Bill" Cline
Captain William Edward “Bill” Cline, 75, of Dade City, Florida entered eternal life on Thursday, August 10, 2023, after a short illness.
He was born December 1, 1947, in Port Huron, Michigan, the son of the late William and Mary (Taylor) Cline.
Bill graduated from Port Huron High School in 1965 and served honorably with the United States Air Force in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. He married Mary Jane Belesky on January 27, 1978. He started work on the Great Lakes in 1975 with Oglebay Norton Company Columbia Transportation and became Captain in 1986. He retired from the Gaelic Tug Company in 2012.
He was a member of the International Ship Masters Association, and an active member of the Zephyrhills Moose Lodge 2276 and St. Rita Church, Dade City, Florida. Bill and M.J. enjoyed several years of retirement in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Nancy Belesky, Jim and Linda Belesky, Dick and Laura Belesky, Jack and Kitty Belesky, Betty Rankin, Donna and Bob Amthor; "special" brother, Larry Cowper; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Jerry Rankin and Harold Belesky Jr.; and "special" brother, Terry Sargent.
Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, Port Huron, Michigan.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made to St. Rita Church, Dade City, Florida or Moose Lodge 2276, Zephyrhills, Florida.
