William A Hornby

February 25th, 1948 to June 27th, 2025

William Allen Hornby, 77, of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, June 27, 2025.

He was born February 25, 1948 in Port Huron to the late Allen and Alice Hornby.

Bill served in the U.S. Army, completing two tours in Vietnam, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in July 1969. He was employed as an engineer at Detroit Edison for many years. Bill liked spending time outdoors-boating, camping, grilling, and playing horseshoes. He especially enjoyed cookouts and socializing with friends.

With a heavy heart and sadness, he leaves his wife of 30 years, Sandra Kay Hornby; six children, Tim Hornby, Missy Greenia, Holly Hornby, Herb Deising, Shelley (Joe) Wolvin and Jason Deising; three brothers, Dick (Phylis) Hull, Tom (Mindy) Hornby and Bob (Patty) Hornby; sister-in-law, Karen Hornby; 16 grandchildren; and his best buddy, Dick Morrison. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Martin; and brother, Michael Hornby.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
