Gary R Marinez Sr.

Gary Ronald Marinez Sr., 81, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2023 surrounded by his family.

He was born June 12, 1942 in Port Huron to the late Philip and Dorothy Marinez. He married Nancy Pollock on July 27, 1963 in Port Huron.

Gary graduated from Port Huron High School in 1961 and was a member of the Varsity Football team. He was employed with General Motors and retired in 1996. Gary was a great cook and baker who was famous for his cheesecakes and salsa. He loved to play cards and was a fan of all Detroit sports, especially the Lions and U of M. Gary loved spending time with his family, especially his wife and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy; sons, Gary Jr. and Greg (Lisa); daughter, Nicole; grandchildren, Gregory Marinez, Jordan (Cassandra) Marinez, Noelle Marinez, Kylar Marinez, Natalie Watson, Ben Marinez and Emma Watson; great grandchildren, Kaedynce and Kane; sisters, Suzanne (Jerry) Oden, Diana Ferguson and Marchell (Henry) Sanchez; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mona, Helen and Melody.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
