Harry G Crespi
Harry G. Crespi, 89, of Shelby Township, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
He was born on May 22, 1934 in Detroit to the late Alfonso and Maria Crespi.
Harry graduated from Catholic Central High School of Detroit in 1952 where he was elected Valedictorian. He continued his education at the University of Detroit earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1957. He went on to earn a Master of Automotive Engineering through the Chrysler Institute of Engineering in 1959, where he graduated first in his class and earned him a membership in the “Engineering Society of Detroit” and member of the “Society of Automotive Engineers”. Harry also enlisted and served honorably in the U.S. Army and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He had a very extensive career in the automotive business. Focusing on Quality Control, his career included experience at Ford Motor Company, Chrysler Corporation, Burroughs Corporation, Lear Jet Stereo Company and Bendix Corporation. He also opened a 10-minute oil change business long before it was ever popularized by the larger oil companies.
Harry loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe with his family. He was a very talented woodworker and writer. He tutored his nephews, helping them with advanced math and chemistry courses. Harry had a love for cars, especially the older classics. He especially loved his 1960 Chrysler New Yorker.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted sister, Roselyn Crespi; nephews, Michael (Cyndy) Mancini and Richard Mancini; niece, Kathryn (John) Mackey; great nieces and great nephews, Michael, Nicole, Kaitlyn and Kyle Mancini, and Danielle, John and Jenna Mackey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Eugene Mancini; niece, Meg Mancini; and a very special friend, Theresa Emery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, 1720 Elk St., Port Huron.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in San Francesco Catholic Church, Clinton Township with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Dino Vanin will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to Detroit Catholic Central High School.
