Diane Elizabeth Zatorski, 69, of Port Huron Township, died Monday, January 8, 2024.
She was born February 24, 1954 in Detroit to Shirley E. and the late Jerome A. Downey. She was the eldest of their eight children and excelled at being “the boss” of her siblings.
Diane was employed at Hamzavi Dermatology for many years. She was an avid reader of Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, with her favorite being the Outlander series. She enjoyed rooting for the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, crocheting and crafting, especially diamond art painting. She belonged to a camping club and from April to October would visit several campgrounds including the annual family week-long trip to Port Crescent. She was stubborn and feisty and loved her puppies, who were her babies.
She is survived by her daughter, Shawn Studer; son, Chad Studer; mother, Shirley Downey; granddaughter, Mackenzie Jansen; five siblings, Joan Tanton, Joe (Ronieta) Downey, Sue O’Lear, Patsy Kelley and Ken (SonOk) Downey; sister-in-law, Barb Downey; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; bonus daughters, April Langolf, Jenny Saura, Barb Keys, Jenny Watson; and bonus granddaughter, Erin Macdonald. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome Robert Downey and Donald Downey.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Deacon John Fitzmaurice will officiate.
