Daniel P McKernan

Daniel Patrick McKernan, 78, of Kenockee Township, died Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

He was born March 25, 1945 in Detroit to the late John and Loretta McKernan. He married the love of his life, Billie Lee Szelle on March 17, 1971 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2022.

Daniel was a patriot and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served in Vietnam. He worked as an industrial journeyman mechanic for many years prior to his retirement. Daniel could build, fix and repair anything and enjoyed solving mechanical problems. He loved cars, music and his dogs, but his main focus was always his family and his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Daniel T. (Jen) McKernan, Therese E. McKernan and Denise M. Galardi; grandchildren, Wilhelmina and Caitroina Galardi; sister, Kathleen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Terence, Barbara, James, Mary and Thomas.

Private family services have taken place.

Interment was in the Lakeside Cemetery Mausoleum, Port Huron.
