Joan M Beauchamp

Joan M. Beauchamp, 99, took Jesus' hand and went to her Heavenly home on January 27, 2024.

We believe the angels were rejoicing that day to see this saintly woman come home.

Joan was born October 31, 1924 in Marine City to the late Laura and Ashley Arnold. She was the oldest of 3 children. She graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1942 and completed a program from Cleary College in Ypsilanti, MI. She worked as a secretary for the City of Detroit and also the Diamond Crystal Salt Co. before marrying Robert D. Beauchamp on January 25, 1947.

They honeymooned in California and stayed there for 2 ½ years before returning to Michigan. After the youngest of 6 children started school, she went to work at the St. Clair Inn as a waitress and bartender for 25 years until she retired in 1988. She acquired a license to sell real estate in 1980 and was certified in 1981 for basic income tax preparation. Joan and Bob were able to retire in 1988 to a home they built on Lake Huron in Port Huron where they lovingly shared their home and beach with family and friends. Many days were spent in the sun, swimming and playing cards with everyone.

Joan’s joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and sewing. Along with many other loving projects, she made each of her grandchildren a T-Shirt quilt upon their high school graduation. We will all be within reach of her loving arms holding us as we use the many quilts and blankets she made for us.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on November 23, 2013, two brothers: Charles Arnold and James Arnold; a daughter, Karen Pauly; one grandchild, Alex Rogensues and two sons-in-law, Richard Pauly and Michael Rogensues.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children; David (Norma) Beauchamp, Ann Arbor, MI; Daniel (Jillaine) Beauchamp, Ann Arbor, MI; Laura (Don) Mallory, Tecumseh, MI; Janette (Mike) Rogensues, Clinton Twp, MI; and Mary (Jeff) Birmingham, Saline, MI. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joan always gave of herself without asking for anything in return and loved and supported her family unconditionally. When she walked into a room, it wasn't "Here I am!" but "There YOU are!"

She loved and was loved greatly. She was unparalleled. To say she will be missed doesn't come close to describing our loss. Her memory and her legacy will endure.

A Funeral Mass for Joan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfield will officiate.

Burial will be in Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron.

Memorial contributions in Joan’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
