Donald H. McFarlane
Donald Howard McFarlane, 73, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, February 10, 2024.
He was born November 29, 1950 in Port Huron to the late Kenneth and Edna McFarlane. He married Rosemary Laming on June 2, 1972 in St. Mary Catholic Church.
Donald was a 1968 graduate of Port Huron Northern. After high school he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was as an electrician with Chrysler Corporation for 48 years prior to his retirement. Donald loved his cats and enjoyed spending time in his yard. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans and an avid supporter of the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosemary; children, Michelle Archer and Trevor (April) McFarlane; son-in-law, Thomas Archer; grandchildren, Arianna (Austin) Stevens, Anastasia (Cale) Forsyth and Ariel Charles; great grandchildren, Ramsey, Rex, Ruby and Reese Forsyth; brother, Terry (June) McFarlane; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite feline buddy, Romeo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Lynn; and a brother, Gerald McFarlane.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, the Blue Water Area Humane Society or please consider getting CPR certified. Don’s life was extended by 14 years because of CPR.
