Edward J O'Connor

Edward Joseph O’Connor, 86, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

He was born August 12, 1937 in Croswell to the late Leo and Grace O’Connor. He married Beverly A. Hawley in November of 1957 in Port Huron.

Edward owned and operated OK & Sons Upholstery for 55 years. He enjoyed fishing, BINGO and going up north. He also loved watching Port Huron Northern football games as well as his grandson’s little league games. He attended St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic Minister and later became a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Doerzbacher.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly; children, William O’Connor (William Rice), Edward J. “Joe” O’Connor Jr and Anna Nuss; daughter-in-law, Linda Bolsby; grandchildren, Missy (Trent) Loudenback, Kayla (Patrick) Powers, Jodi (Donnie) Soucy, Tyler O’Connor, Patrick (Ashley) O’Connor, Jacklyn (Jacob) Wagner and Jeremy (Michelle) O’Connor; great grandchildren, Parker, Braden, Kameron, Kason, Karder, Connor, Liam, Caden, Sawyer, Aubrey, Madisyn, Lilah, Rylee, Alyssa and Phil’ip; siblings, Carolyn Dody, Clara (John) Will and Wayne (Becky) O’Connor; sisters-in-law, Kay O’Connor, Rose Hawley and Jane (Gary) Roberts; brothers-in-law, Gerald Hitcock and Jud Ireland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Leo O’Connor; daughter, Vicki Sue O’Connor; grandsons, Matthew, O’Connor and David Kerr Jr.; and siblings, Marge (Jack) Looney, Beatrice (Bob) Norman, William (Eleanor) O’Connor, George O’Connor, Bob O’Connor, Marion Hitcock and Catherine Ireland.

A memorial service for Beverly and Edward will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Don Doerzbacher will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A celebration of Beverly and Edward’s lives will be held later this summer.
