Jacqueline "Jackie" Rumley Jellinek

April 23rd, 1929 to March 21st, 2024

Jacqueline “Jackie” Rumley Jellinek passed away peacefully in her residence in Chicago on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

She was born on April 23, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Elmer and Camilla Rumley.

Jackie was a 1947 graduate of St. Stephen High School and received an MA degree in Administration from the University of Michigan and later earned her PhD in Social Psychology from Fielding Institute.

In her earlier years, Jackie served both in education/administration and also on the General Council for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters (IHM’s) of Monroe, Michigan. She later worked into advanced marketing positions, functioning both nationally and internationally. In her later years, Jackie assumed a position with Long & Foster of Washington D.C., serving in Potomac Real Estate.

On October 18, 1975, Jackie married Dr. Harold Jellinek in the chapel of Catholic University, Washington D.C. Jackie and Hal spent many, many happy years together until his passing in January 2014.

Jackie is survived by a sister, Mary Rumley; a brother-in-law, Bill Saunders; very dear friends, Leslie Jellinek and Bob Channon; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal; her parents; brothers, Jim and Grant Rumley; sisters, Audrey Park, Pat Delaney, Barb Saunders and Sue Rumley.

Our family wishes to send our deepest love and appreciation to Leslie Jellinek for all her work, attentiveness and devotion to Jackie, especially in her final days. Words cannot express!

A graveside service was held for Jackie on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden of Remembrance Cemetery in Washington D.C.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate.
