January 31st, 1930 to April 12th, 2024
Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of a great man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Dennis Wayne Barr, 94, of Clyde Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024.

Dennis “Denny” was born on January 31, 1930 in Forester, Michigan to the late Walter and Hazel Barr, one of eight children. He married Patricia Ann “Pat” Archibald on February 23, 1952 in Port Huron and they went on to enjoy 72 beautiful years of marriage together.

Dennis served in the U.S Army and the National Guard. He enjoyed his childhood on the family farm in Forester and in his later years he and Pat built a summer home on a portion of the same property where they hosted many campfires and wonderful times with their children. Dennis enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends (of which he had many). He retired as a Quality Control Manager from St. Clair Rubber/Evans St. Clair in December of 1994 after 41 years.

Denny would describe his life as one well lived! He loved unconditionally and was so loved by everyone who knew him. To know him was a true blessing. His ability to overcome the many challenges in his life was unwavering. For him, nothing was impossible! He taught us all the meaning of perseverance. He will be missed so very much by us all, yet we know his love and inspiration will remain with us always.

He is survived by his beloved family that was his greatest joy: his wife of 72 years, Patricia; son, Daniel (Renee) Barr; daughter-in-law, Barbara Barr (Dwayne Edwards); Michael Westphal, who was like a son; grandchildren, Jacob (Tammy) Barr, Brian (Tara Mae) Barr, Melissa Belair, Nathaniel (Autumn) Barr, Jamie (Michael) Rochelle, Aaron (Colleen) Barr, Lauren (Kevin) Johnson, Nicholas Westphal, Delaney Barr (Rocci Beebe) and Darian Barr (Greg Swanson); 21 great grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Judy) Barr, Douglas (Brenda) Barr and Jeffery (Vicki) Barr; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis W. “Ted” Barr Jr.; his siblings, Delbert (Erdeen) Barr, Jearl Barr, Peggy (Walter) Albrecht and Linda (Bud) Allen; and his in-laws, David and Goldie Archibald.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Denny’s daughter-in-law, Renee, will officiate.
