Julia Gale Hillman

Julia (Gale) Hillman, 88, of Fort Gratiot, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

She was born July 27, 1935 in Detroit to the late Pender Lee Hensley and Jennie Louise (Hensley) Patterson. She married Jacob Hillman on July 10, 1954 in Detroit. They eventually moved to Lakeport and owned a convenience store for 48 years before their retirements. Jacob preceded her in death on November 29, 2019 after 65 years of marriage.

Julia loved to read, play bridge and spend time with her family. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with her friends. She was a long-time member of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by four children: Jacob Hillman, Janet (Paul) Jones, Judy (Mike) Wilton and Joseph Hillman; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jay Hillman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Davis of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery.
