Rosemary A "Rosie" Cummings

Rosemary Ann “Rosie” Cummings, 84, of Sylvania, Ohio, formerly of Fort Gratiot, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 6, 2024.

She was born February 13, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Port Huron at the age of 5 when she was adopted by the late Clifford and Mary Tomlinson. She lived almost her entire life in the Port Huron area. She married R. Thomas “Tom” Cummings on February 4, 1961 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2009.

Both Rosie and Tom graduated from St. Stephen High School and were lifelong members of the parish. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and canning, especially stewed tomatoes. She was a passionate gardener and had a vast knowledge of flowers and perennials. For many years she would craft beautiful Christmas wreaths. Rosie and her husband Tom were avid golfers and longtime members of the Black River Country Club. In 1986 she hit a hole in one. She was active in Port Huron Town Hall and the International Symphony Orchestra. Rosie was well known for her karaoke skills and performances at various events, especially for performing “These Boots are Made for Walking”.

Rosemary is survived by three daughters, Julie Gonzales, Barbara (Tom) McKinch and Elizabeth (Tim) Harlow; two sons, Paul Cummings (Ako Ichikawa) and Andrew Cummings (Chandra Rosen); six grandchildren; Russell Gonzales, Kyle McKinch, Lauren (Isaac) Bowling, Haley McKinch, Joaquin Maldonado, Mia Maldonado; four great-grandchildren, Ellis Caie-Gonzales, Jayden and Kellen McKinch and another expected in August of this year; sister, Theresa (Bill) Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Julian Gonzales; great-grandson, Portland Bowling; brother, Richard Tomlinson; and sister, Christine Fantin.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.
