Shane Ward

Shane Stewart Ward, 49, of Port Huron, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 3, 2026.

He was born April 19, 1977 in Port Huron to Thomas A. Ward and the late Jacalyn D. Ward.

Shane’s love of hockey began at age five when he played on various Port Huron travel teams. He later played hockey and football at Port Huron High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida in Pensacola and went on to own and operate Recovery Handyman Fencing Company in Pensacola, Florida. He enjoyed fishing, boating, snow skiing and was a huge fan of the Grateful Dead. Some of his fondest memories were family boat and skiing trips in Michigan and spending time with family at Pensacola Beach. There were many fiercely competitive ping pong games at family barbecues at his home in Pensacola. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Rosco.

He is survived by his spouse, Amber Vogel; children, Whitney Ward and Joshua Ward; stepson, Logan; sister, Neeley Ramey; niece, Harper; nephew, Carter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacalyn D. Ward; maternal grandparents, Stewart and Shirley Mousre; and paternal grandparents, Dr. John A. and Marjorie Ward.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
