Lynne K Loewenthal
Lynne Kay Loewenthal, 78, of Port Huron, died Sunday, May 26, 2024.
She was born June 7,1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Ernest and Helen Loewenthal.
Lynne was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and the Port Huron Junior College Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program. She worked for many years in the nursing field. She held various positions at Port Huron medical offices and was a staff member at local agencies providing home care for senior citizens.
As a true “people person” who loved to laugh and have a good time, Lynne made many friends over the years who appreciated her warmth and upbeat approach to life. Her family moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to the shores of Lake Huron when she was in grade school and the beach was always her special place. In more recent years, she was a member of The Lighthouse Beach Girls. Nothing brought her more joy than basking in the sun on a stunning summer day, watching the boats go by and joking with her Beach Girls.
In her younger years, Lynne had an adventurous travel life. She spent decades traveling the U.S. on the back of a Harley, covering many amazing miles with a special group of friends who loved to “get their knees in the breeze.”
Of her many friends, none was more dear to her than Deborah Ramereiz. In the last months of Lynne’s illness, she required full-time nursing care. Deborah, with assistance from her husband Lupe, provided that care in a gentle, loving manner that only a dear friend can provide. Lynne’s family was in awe of Deborah and Lupe’s dedication to Lynne and there are no words to express the family’s gratitude for what they did for her in her last months.
Lynne is survived by her son, Scott Abraham; grandchildren, Ian and Logan Abraham; brother, Greg (Kathy); nieces and nephews, Katie Steenstra, Andrew Loewenthal, Craig (Alexis) Hoetger and Kevin Hoetger; and her faithful dog, Roxy, who was always by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sue Hoetger; and a nephew, Chris Hoetger.
Per Lynne’s request, no services will be held. A memorial event to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
