June M Groff

June 2nd, 1933 to June 2nd, 2024

June Marion Groff was greeted in heaven by Jesus and the blessed Mother Mary on her 91st birthday, June 2, 2024.

She was born on June 2, 1933 in Port Huron, one of 12 children of the late Alma and Albert Post. She grew up in the first ward where she met the love of her life, Milford “Moe” Groff. They were married on August 30, 1952 in Port Huron. They raised eight children together until his death in 2000.

June loved life and made everyone she met feel special and welcome with her warm smiles and her famous group hugs. She volunteered many years at the local soup kitchen. She spread her Catholic faith as a eucharistic minister at hospitals, nursing homes and was often found in the church kitchen during funerals and special events at St. Mary Catholic Church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and singing off key with her family and friends. Her sense of humor included “corny” June jokes, making people roll their eyes and laugh with her.

She is survived by seven of her children and their spouses, all of which were the joys of her life, Terry (Art) Viola, Thomas (Celine) Groff, Susan (Scott) Hartfil, Eric (Linda) Groff, Paul (Aylyn) Groff, Gloria “Jeannie” (Matt) Lewandowski and Melissa (Nick) Youtsos; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 billion nieces and nephews; two sisters, Dorothy Sollmann and Pat Horn; and sister-in-law, Jenny Young. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosemarie Moore; nine siblings, Eva, Alberta, Betty, Mae, Ida, Judy, Larry, Bobby and Harold; and good friend, Eva Caughill.
