Fred R Albert Jr.

February 27th, 1935 to September 9th, 2024

Fred Robert Albert, age 89, of Marysville, Michigan, formerly from Ruby and the Lakeport area, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024.

He was born February 27, 1935 in Port Huron to the late Fred R. Albert Sr and Lydia (Falk). Fred graduated high school in 1952, then enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After serving his term, he worked as a tool and die machinist. He met his sweetheart, Mary Jane McDonald, and they were married on April 21, 1956. Fred enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling both in the US and Canada, and the many camping trips taken with his family and friends. He and Mary Jane spent their winters in Florida. He was a loving and patient husband and friend, a proud father, and an adoring grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jane “Sadie”; children, Buck (Nelda) Albert and Margaret (Kevin) Summers; grandchildren, Cole Albert and Adam Pacheco, Brandon (Kari) Summers and Anika (Taylor) O’Connell; great grandchildren, Weston and Colson Pacheco and Piper and Lachlan O’Connell; siblings, Joan (Garth) Fleming and Jim (Adele) Albert; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Alex Pacheco.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Military Honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army followed by a time of sharing will begin at 4:00 p.m.

A private burial will be held in Lakeport Cemetery, Burtchville Township. Graveside military honors will be under the auspices of the St. Clair County Veterans Honor Guard.
