Bernice Howard
Bernice Jacqueline Howard, 90, of Port Huron, died Friday, October 4, 2024. She was born December 10, 1933 in Ubly, Michigan to the late Peter and Theresa Rumptz.
Bernice graduated from Port Huron High School in 1952. She retired from the City of Port Huron Treasurers Office after 23 years. She enjoyed bowling and participated in several local and state tournaments with several championships won over the years. Gardening was her favorite pastime and she took pride in her beautiful yard. She loved to travel with her sister, Shirley, taking several road trips throughout North America.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Polly) Howard Jr., Thomas (Julie) Howard, David (Rose) Howard, Mark Howard, Timothy (Janet) Howard and Terri Howard (Brad Nickolchuk); grandchildren, Corrie, Christie, Chuck III, Rachel (Eduardo), Ryan (Tina), Meredith (Matt) and Erik; great grandchildren, Braxton, Maddox, Isaac, Olivia, Cassie, Caden, Colton, Liberty, Mason and Madeline. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Charles; brothers, Harold and John Rumptz; and sisters, Donna Artman and Shirley Locke.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Bernice will lie in state on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
