John Vande Voorde
John “Jay” Vande Voorde, 75, of Worth Township, went to be with the Lord following a long battle on Monday, November 11, 2024.
He was born July 1, 1949 in Port Huron to the late John and Anna Vande Voorde. He married Jean Lariviere on November 17, 2018 in Lexington.
Jay was a 1967 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School and then served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Huron Inc. in Lexington for 44 years until his retirement. He loved traveling with the love of his life, Jean, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed car shows and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; four children, Scott Vande Voorde (Lynn Gordon), Kelly (Ryan) Griffin, Ryan (Michelle) Detrick and Nicole (Michael) Murawski; seven grandchildren, Faith, Calista, Tyler, Logan, Cameron, Payton and Lane; great granddaughter, Charlotte; sister, Nancy Benjamin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Douglas Studaker will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
