James Moss

James Orville Moss, 90, of Port Huron, died Thursday, November 28, 2024.

He was born March 16, 1934 in Port Huron to the late George and Jeanette Moss. He married Wilma E. Briggs on February 27, 1960.

James was a member of the Port Huron High School class of 1952. He then honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for four years mastering teletyping repair. After his time in the military, he went on to complete his bachelor’s at Eastern Michigan University. James worked for the IRS for ten years before opening his own accounting firm. He loved to golf and was a member of the Elks Lodge #343. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and extended family play football, basketball and tennis at Port Huron Northern.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma; two daughters, Kelly (Bill) Mattison and Kim (Tom) Lees; grandchildren, Will and Abbey Mattison, Taylor (Eric) Rossow D.O. and Tommy (Angel) Lees; great grandson, Cooper Rossow; siblings, Sharon Saunby, Raymond “Moe” Moss and Susann Dawson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Leah Jones, George Moss, Norma Miller and Richard Moss.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Shaun Laurain will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
