Gerald T "Jerry" Kraft
Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Kraft, 64, of Chesterfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
He was born August 24, 1960 in Detroit. He married Julia R. Shubert on May 19, 1989 in St. Stephen Catholic Church.
Jerry was a 1978 graduate of Port Huron Northern. He dedicated many years of his career to the field of automotive logistics. He was a passionate football fan who enjoyed watching the sport at all levels. Jerry was very kind and generous with his family and friends. He was a skilled cook who took pleasure in preparing meals for his loved ones. Throughout his life, he regularly donated blood, achieving an impressive 9-gallon pin. Additionally, Jerry had a love for travel, particularly cruising with family and friends, and he enjoyed sailing and skeet shooting. He was a member of Blue Water Sportsman’s Club and Moose Lodge #158.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julia; daughter, Jacquelyn Kraft (Kevin Lai); son, Ian Kraft; father, Valery Kraft; sister, Cheryl (Larry) Herbon; two sisters-in-law, Karen Shubert and Mary Mohni; aunt, Rita (Warren) McGarry; two nephews, Brian and Michael Herbon; and many cherished cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn J. Kraft; and brother, David B. Kraft.
Visitation will be from 2- 8 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
