Kathryn S Roller

Kathryn S. “Kathy” Roller, 88, of Port Huron, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, with her children at her side.

She was born on December 15, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joseph Seltzer and Alice Carter.

Kathy spent her childhood years in Ohio. However, she attended high school in New Port Richie, Florida where she was homecoming queen, played the trombone in the marching band and was a cheerleader, activities that fit her outgoing personality and the beautiful person she was, inside and out. She was also crowned Miss Pasco County while in Florida.

Kathy obtained an associate degree from Gulf Port College for Women in Mississippi then returned to Ohio. There she was employed by the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio where she met her future husband, W. Neil Roller, an Episcopal minister. They married in 1958 and started a family in Ohio, moving to Port Huron in 1969 when Rev. Roller became the minister at St. Paul’s Episcopal church. After divorcing, Kathy worked at Steven’s Marina then transitioned to her final career working for the City of Port Huron as the administrative assistant to the City Planning Director. Kathy was very involved with activities in the Port Huron community, but was most proud to work the elections for many years tallying ballots.

Kathy loved patriotic music and marching bands and was involved in the Blue Water Brass for a number of years serving as the executive secretary. She loved to attend concerts in the park and local parades. Kathy also had a wonderful voice and loved to sing. Her ability to harmonize was amazing. She could sing “God Bless America” better than Kate Smith. Most of all, Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Roller; daughter, Deanna (Todd) Klein; grandson, Scott (Emily) Klein; granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Sean) LeMerise; step-granddaughter, Laura (Shawn) Sharrow; great-granddaughter, Erin Klein; and two step-great-grandsons, Kade and Gage Sharrow. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Joanie Hubbard.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
