Cora B "Mona" Geffros

Cora Barbara “Mona” Geffros, 81, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

She was born June 26, 1943 in Linwood, Ontario, Canada to the late William and Edna McCandless. She married Michael R. Geffros on October 15, 1966 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Mona’s volunteer work with Blue Water Hospice and Port Huron Hospital reflected her kind-hearted nature, as she offered comfort and support to those in need. Beyond her volunteering efforts, Mona’s role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was central to her life. In addition to her family, Mona had a tight-knit group of friends in both Michigan and Florida who she enjoyed spending time with.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mike “Papa” Geffros; daughter, Lisa Geffros (Jon Lensmeyer); son, Chris (Natalie) Geffros; seven grandchildren, Erin (Joey) Giordano, Katie (Mike) Hulewicz, Meghan Lensmeyer, Aiden Geffros, Gavin Geffros, Nolan Geffros and Vaughn Geffros; great grandson, Leo Giordano; sister, Mary Hilker; brother, Elgin (Grace) McCandless; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2025 and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery, Port Huron.
