Jonathan Charles “Charlie” Smith, 73, of Kenockee Township died Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

He was born February 5, 1951 in Port Huron to the late Dorothy R. and Joseph O. Smith Sr.

Charlie was a 1969 graduate of Port Huron High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1974. He was employed as a carpenter at Port Huron Hospital for many years and then at Mortimer Lumber before his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Donna Smith; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Smith; and three brothers, Jeffery, Daniel and James Smith.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, January 27, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home followed by a procession to Mt. Hope Cemetery for graveside services. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
