Elizabeth A. "Liz" Thompson

January 14th, 1940 to February 8th, 2025

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Thompson, age 85, of St. Clair, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Born on January 14, 1940, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Chester and Irene Leach, Liz’s life was one of service, love, and vibrant enthusiasm.

A graduate of St. Clair High School, Liz pursued her passion for caring for others by attending Henry Ford Nursing School. She dedicated her professional life as a nurse to working for Dr. Beer and as a Plant Nurse for Detroit Edison.

Liz's faith was an important part of her life, and she was actively involved in her church community. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Clair for over fifty years and the Church of the Palms in Sarasota for 15 years. She was also an avid football fan, cheering on the Green Bay Packers with enthusiasm. She actively participated in both the St. Andrew Society of Sarasota and the Caledonian Club of Sarasota, embracing her Scottish heritage and the rich traditions and camaraderie these organizations offered.

Liz's greatest accomplishment in life was being a loving mother, grandmother, and nurse. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and service to others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Liz was preceded in death by her loving husband George “Dick” Thompson. She was a loving mother to Kelly Schmidt (Ramil) and Karry Hepting (Jamie), and a cherished grandmother to Kyle and Alexandra Hepting. She also leaves behind her step-daughters, Kimberly Sladicki (Michael) and Lisa Thompson, and step-grandchildren, Kiana and Kyra Sladicki.

A memorial service to celebrate Liz's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Liz’s family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Blue Water Hospice Home in Liz’s memory. To send condolences, visit karrersimpson.com
