Robert W Schleyer

Robert William Schleyer, 86, of Shelby Township, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

He was born April 27, 1938 in Port Huron to the late Fred and Dorothy Schleyer. He married Dorothy A. Bugajski on December 26, 1959 in Richmond.

Robert was a 1957 graduate of Port Huron High School. He was employed at Kroger for 45 years before his retirement. Robert served as an usher and deacon at many churches and was most recently a member of Cross Current Church in Port Huron. He enjoyed doing yard work and loved his cars.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Colleen (Eugene) Handzinski and Renae (David) Cummings; five grandchildren, Colin, Janine (Kyle), Hannah, David and Sophia; two great grandchildren, Justine and Ethan; and sister, Sally Adams. He was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mark Wargo of Cross Current Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot.
