Shirley M Reese

Shirley Marie Reese, 84, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, March 16, 2025.

She was born February 20, 1941 in Port Huron to the late Melvin and Catherine Osgood. She married Jack Reese on August 7, 1984 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2012 after 27 years of marriage.

Shirley graduated from Port Huron High School and was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at Port Huron Hospital for 27 years. She was an active member of the YMCA and enjoyed camping, reading and spending time with her dogs and family.

She is survived by three children, Sherry Gates, Stephen (Billie) Gates and Julie Gates; two grandchildren, Corey and Angel; and sister, Fran McPhedrain. She was preceded in death by a special friend, William Ruhstorfer; and brother-in-law, Larry McPhedrain.

Private graveside services will be held in Port Sanilac Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
