Meredith "Cudge" O'Hare-Schmitt

Meredith “Cudge” O’Hare-Schmitt, 86, of Port Huron, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

She was born March 5, 1939 in Port Huron to the late Franklyn and Eleanor Mugavero.

Meredith enjoyed music, dancing, going to Palms Krystal Bar for a Rusty Nail, and sitting on her porch watching the ships on Lake Huron. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Bert O’Hare, Brian (Janice) O’Hare, Brad O’Hare (Karen Desjardin), Mark (Lori) O’Hare and Melanie (Tom) Sheffer; 11 grandchildren, Nick, Ryan, Cody, Hunter, Lauren, Cady, Brittany, Taylor, Luke, Faith and Jacob; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bert P. O’Hare on August 4, 1980 and Joseph E. Schmitt on June 26, 2014; and siblings, Suzanne Herman and Burt Mugavero.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
