Ethel Gonder

Ethel Mae Gonder, 89, of Port Huron, died Thursday, May 29, 2025.

She was born November 6, 1935 in Pontiac, to the late Theodore and Grace Bedford.

Ethel was employed with Black River Manufacturing as a quality control inspector for 23 years and was a very dedicated employee.

She was an avid bowler and loved art, especially drawing and painting. Ethel enjoyed watching TV and westerns, archery, shooting pool, and throwing darts. She enjoyed listening to all types of music, dancing, and loved reading her Bible. Ethel had such a big heart and donated to various organizations. She cherished nothing more than, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Theo (Sherry) Gonder; daughter, Stephanie (Joe) Smith; grandchildren, Athena, James III, Richard, Sarah (Gary), Toni (Ted), Hannah ( Ryan) and Sophie (David); 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and her 17-year-old cat, Sassy. She is preceded in death by her son, James S. Gonder Jr.; grandson Allen Michael Gonder; lifelong friend Grace Brunson; sister, Geraldine Morris; and brothers, Louis and Harold Bedford.

A time of sharing will be at 1pm Tuesday, June 3rd at Karrer Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10am.
