Julie Anne Frisoska-Harrison, 67, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after a long battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia.

She was born August 29, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William R. and O. Dolores (Cox) Frisoska. The third of four children, Julie attended school in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, graduating from Lakeview High School in 1975. While there, Julie was a co-op student at Virginia Farrell’s Beauty School and earned her cosmetology license. After high school Julie enrolled at the City Barber College of Detroit and earned her barber license.

Exceptional at make-up and hair design, Julie went on to build a loyal clientele base as a hair stylist which included clients of over 30 years. For a brief period, Julie co-owned Hero’s hair salon in Hamtramck, Michigan.

In addition to her hair stylist career, Julie was a nanny to two young boys, now grown, who occupy a special place in her heart.

Julie will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, warmth and wit, and her beautiful smile. Having a streak of perfectionism in her, Julie excelled at many things, including sewing, quilting, and cooking. She had an eye for creativity which was evident in one of the things she loved to do most - gardening. Julie loved the outdoors and travelling. Julie had an affinity for taking care of stray animals. Owing to her deep concern for the well-being of animals, all the family’s pets were adopted rescues, including four retired racing greyhounds.

Introduced by a close mutual friend, Julie met and married her husband Jim in 1994, and the couple made a home together in Port Huron, Michigan where they raised their daughter.

Having previously studied for a degree in childhood education, Julie went back to college in 2009, and in 2012, Julie graduated Cum Laude and Phi Theta Kappa from St. Clair Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing.

A dedicated mother and loving role model, Julie always found ways to be an active parent in her child’s education and sought to provide enriching life experiences and a loving home for both her daughter and husband. In 2013, Julie received a Distinguished Service Award from the Port Huron PTA Council for her volunteer work. Julie was an active volunteer with Destination Imagination.

Julie leaves behind her best friend and devoted husband of 31 years, James C. Harrison; loving daughter, Isabella D. Harrison; sisters, Judith (Roger) Julie and Janet Bronson; brother, Jay Frisoska; and many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
