Delores M "Dee" Taylor

July 27th, 1946 to August 13th, 2025

Delores Marie “Dee” Silk Taylor, age 79, of Port Huron, MI, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on August 13, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1946 in South Bend, IN to Lillian Tyson Parker. The family moved to Port Huron, MI when Dee was a young child and she was a lifelong resident of the Blue Water Area.

Dee was a 1964 graduate of Port Huron High School. She worked at a variety of interesting jobs over the years including making parts for the military and automobiles for General Motors in Pontiac, MI.

She attended St. Clair Community College where she graduated Cum Laude in 1979 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Dee went to work immediately after graduation as an LPN at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, MI until 1985. Dee eventually went on to use her medical knowledge as an insurance biller at Port Huron Hospital in 1987, and retired after 20 years of employment with them in 2009.

After retiring, Dee enjoyed working as a part-time home care nurse, first caring for a neighbor and then others who needed her support. She took pride in being a meaningful presence in the lives of these families during their most challenging moments.

Dee had a deeply compassionate heart and found joy in helping those less fortunate-often giving all she had to support others in difficult times.

Dee always took pride in her yard and spent countless hours tending to her grass, plants, and flowers. She also enjoyed keeping up with current events reading her daily newspaper, watching the news, and reading and posting on social media. Dee also liked learning about her heritage and was interested in restoring and reproducing old family photos for everyone.

Dee cherished her continued friendships with several of her childhood friends, classmates, and previous neighbors and spoke often of them. She loved getting together when they were in town and would often post pictures on social media of some of their "good 'ole times" together.

Dee liked to eat breakfast at her local "Diner" where she socialized with everyone and had made a lot of friends over the years.

Those left to cherish Dee's memory include her three children, Robert (Michelle) Taylor Jr. of Bristol, VA; Debbie (Jeff) Lietzow of Marysville, MI and Scott (Jennifer) Taylor of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Billy) Welser of Kimball, MI; Ann Taylor of Oshkosh, WI; Carolyn Taylor of Palmer, Alaska; and Zoe, Zander and Zane Taylor of St. Louis, MO.; two great grandchildren; sister, Carol (Ron) Green of Port Huron, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Dee was preceded in death by her husband Robert Taylor Sr.; her mother, Lillian Parker; sister, Ruth Diaz; and brother, Fred Silk.

In keeping with Dee's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home located at 1720 Elk Street in Port Huron, MI. The family will receive friends between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a service beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron, MI at a later date.
