Melvin J Ward

Melvin James Ward, age 87, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, November 22, 2025.

He was born June 15, 1938 in Detroit to the late Leo and Hazel Ward. Melvin married Donallyn MacInnis on December 26, 1961 in Southfield.

Melvin proudly served in the United States Army. A devoted Catholic, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving the honor of Fourth Degree. Melvin was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donallyn; daughters, Michelle (Robert) Kubiak, Cheryl Klingler (Jeff Moore), Dawn (Harry) Sexton and Shelly (Allen) Aluardo; 9 grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Miller, Melissa Kubiak, Crystal Abbey (Corey Peoples), Adam Kubiak (Jake Griffioen), David (Cassidy) Klingler, Dylan Klingler (Malena Salina), Sharon Alvarado, Shane Alvarado and Shyanne (Mike) Mafteiu; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers.

A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
