Joan M Stiefel

Joan Marie Stiefel, 92, of Port Huron, died Friday, December 5, 2025.

She was born March 11, 1933 in Snover, to the late Peter and Gladys Freiburger. She married Peter Stiefel on May 15, 1954 in Argyle, and they shared 35 years of marriage until his death on October 28, 1989.

Joan was a Sandusky High School graduate and was employed with Kroger for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed walking, taking trips with her friends and was a fantastic cook. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by two children, Susan Lachon and Peter “Rick” Stiefel (Kara Fertner); one granddaughter, Andrea Harmon; and two great grandchildren, Jenna and Olivia Harmon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Franzel; and brothers, Morse, Donald, James, Arnold, Herbert and Ted Freiburger.

Visitation will be held from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Reverend Zbignew Zomerfeld will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
