Charles J Overbeck

Charles John Overbeck, 92, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, February 1, 2026.

He was born May 31, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Henry and Margaret Overbeck. He married Lucille Tranowski on May 2, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2020 after 61 years of marriage.

Charles was a graduate of Purdue University and earned his MBA from Loyola University in Chicago. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. Charles was employed by Consumers Power from 1972 until his retirement in 1995. He was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He is survived by four children, Joseph Overbeck, Ellen (Paul) Ward, Fr. Kenneth Overbeck and Lorraine Shanks; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Janice Overbeck. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Margaret Overbeck, Henry Overbeck and Carol Holmes.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld and Charles’ son, the Reverend Kenneth Overbeck will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
