Debra A Maveety

Debra Ann Maveety, 72, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, February 21, 2026.

She was born October 22, 1953 in Detroit to Marilyn and the late Richard Kallio. She married Michael R. Maveety on May 5, 1972 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church, Lakeport.

Mrs. Maveety worked as a secretary for Port Huron Area Schools prior to her retirement. She enjoyed going out to eat, shopping, and going to casinos. She especially loved spending quality time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael; two children, Brian R. Maveety and Lynn A. (Bill) Butterworth; two grandchildren, Calvin and Reese Butterworth; her mother, Marilyn (Larry) Rapes; a sister, Kathleen (Jerry) Hall; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Brad Maveety; her beloved grandmother, Mildred Miller; and an aunt, Joan Marciniak.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
